Does Restarting the Router Fix Wi-Fi Problems?
Often, yes, for problems affecting the whole network — a slow or dropped internet connection across every device is a good candidate for a router restart. It won't help if the problem is specific to one device, since that points to something on that device rather than the router.
When it helps
Routers can develop minor glitches over time, and a restart clears temporary memory issues and re-establishes the connection to your internet provider. This is genuinely effective for network-wide slowdowns or dropouts.
When it won't help
If only one device is affected while everything else on the network works fine, the router isn't the cause, and restarting it won't fix a problem that's actually on that specific computer.
